This is one to watch. Torey Malatia was just named GM at Rhode Island Public Radio. WGBH is an out of market signal – this is an opportunity for RIPR to shine.

Best wishes to Torey Malatia for success in his new gig in Providence. I've known Torey since the 80s when I was in grad school at ASU.  He was a host at KONC-FM a commercial classical station in Phoenix, and we crossed paths.  Torey will succeed at RIPR because he is all-about the task at hand.

KCRW, KXT & WYEP GAIN LISTENING IN TRIPLE A TREND COMPARISONS

KKXT, Dallas and WYEP, Pittsburgh had significantly more estimated weekly listeners in a comparison of August 2014 and recently released August 2015 Nielsen Audio PPM reports.

KCRW, Los Angeles gained over 80,000 new weekly listeners.  Because KCRW also carries the major NPR News magazines, proprietary hour-by-hour data is needed to see if the gains can be attributed to music or news programming.

[Scroll down to see the charts containing all 22 Triple A PPM stations tracked by SPARK!]

WSGE, Charlotte more than doubled its AQH and grew its weekly listeners by more than a third. Overall 9 of the 22 stations gained AQH Share, 9 lost AQH Share, 3 remained steady.  One station, KVOQ OpenAir in Denver was not on FM in August 2014.

The estimated number of Weekly Cumulative listeners was higher on 9 of the 22 stations and declined on 12.
