OKLAHOMA CITY & RICHMOND SPRING RATINGS

NOTE:  A PREVIOUS VERSION OF THIS POST INCORRECTLY LISTED RESULTS FOR ROCHESTER AS "SYRACUSE."  I WILL POST THE INFORMATION FOR BOTH ROCHESTER AND SYRACUSE SOON. THANK YOU TO READERS WHO POINTED OUT MY ERROR.

RRC continues to release top-line Nielsen Audio results from the Spring 2015 Diary markets.  Today we have snapshots of three very different markets that are similar in size:

KOSU continues to gain listening in a market that KGOU should own. Both stations have dual formats.  Maybe it is time for KGOU to put the NPR News hammer down.

WVTW is a repeater of WVTF, Roanoke.  WVTF also owns WFFC a second NPR News station that uses the name Radio IQ. Even with two signals in Richmond, WVTF doesn’t put much of a dent into WCVE.

Nice to see Triple A WNRN in Charlottesville gain a foothold in Richmond.  They are an excellent community station.  Another good community station – WRIR – isn’t listed because they probably don’t purchase the data.

  1. Wait, is that the SYRACUSE market or the ROCHESTER market?

WXXI-AM does not appear in the Syracuse market at all. Or at least it shouldn't. The Rochester market extends all the way down to Geneva in the Finger Lakes (WEOS is considered part of it) and WXXI-AM doesn't even reach half that distance during the day.

Used to be Ithaca was considered part of the Syracuse market but I don't think that's true anymore since Saga pulled out of the rankings in order to make Ithaca unranked, and thus allowed them to add more signals to their empire there because it was all based on contours instead of market location.
