NEW STUDY: MOST AMERICANS ARE STRESSED ABOUT THE FUTURE OF OUR NATION



Does it seem to you that people are more stressed out these days? Do people appear to be more negative and be more frustrated by the lack of control over what will happen to us in the future?

If you said, “yes” to these questions, you are part of the 80% of U.S. adult population that is deeply worried and stressed our predicament.

According to a newly released study by the American Psychological Association (APA), the current stress level is at a record high level. 

APA has conducted annual Stress in America surveys for five years and 2020 stands out as the most stressful year ever.

APA hired The Harris Poll to conduct the online study. 

Harris asked 3,013 Americans, age 18 or older, about the cause of stress in their own lives.

The survey was conducted between May 21 and June 3, 2020. Minneapolis police killed George Floyd on May 25th

On May 25th. Protests, including some that became violent, continued through the remainder of survey period and still are happening today.

More than 8 in 10 Americans (83%) said the future of our nation is a significant source of stress.

The APA/Harris study also found that actions by “the government” in response to the pandemic caused or added to their own stress.
