I recently discovered an amazing blog
called Kill Ugly Radio. It is the creative work of Rich Lindsay of
Portland, Oregon. Lindsay has curated
one of the most unique collections of historic and twisted audio anywhere on earth.
Lindsay has been involved in audio collage
and experimentation since the mid-eighties. Lindsay hosts a monthly show on
community station KBOO called Radio Lost
& Found. What is heard on the program is a small fraction of the
material on Kill Ugly Radio.
Lindsay’s choices of content are
scholarly, off-beat, hip and surprising. KillUgly Radio is a museum and lending library.
Rich Lindsay is a radio hero!
The scope of Kill Ugly Radio is impressive.
In addition to archive editions of the KBOO program, topic areas include
sound art, mash-ups, comedy such as Firesign Theatre, news and political
broadcasts. Lindsay is on the bus…
I found today’s clip on Kill Ugly Radio. It is a track the 1979
album Somewhere Over the Radio. Ron
Stevens and Joy Grdnic were then morning show hosts in LA. Please take a minute
and have a laugh:
