Jessica Hansen |
PRPD
has released more of the agenda for the Public Radio Content Conference (PRCC)
August 26 – 29 in Minneapolis [link].
One name stands out: Jessica Hansen.
If
her name doesn’t ring a bell, you will immediately recognize her work.
Hansen is
the voice of NPR's funding credits.
Plus she is an in-house voice coach for
NPR.
Her appearance at a past PRCC has been called “insanely popular.”
At this
year's PRCC, Hansen will host a workshop for content
creators and on-air talent. The day and time
of Hansen’s workshop has yet to be announced.
Public
radio should be grateful to have Hansen on their roster.
She is in demand as both a
voice coach and as an actor.
Hansen has conducted workshops for corporate groups, professional theater companies, podcast hosts,
journalists, and private clients nationwide.
Hansen
has appeared on NBC's Parks &
Recreation and on HBO's Veep.
You
can see her technique in action in a YouTube video produced by NPR
Training. In this segment Hansen shares vocal
exercises with legendary NPR host Susan Stamberg:
Also
at the upcoming PRCC, APM and MPR will host the opening party on Monday evening
at Orchestra Hall.
The event is within
easy walking distance from the conference hotel.
Other confirmed
sessions (with dates and times yet to be announced) include:
• Public Radio Tech
Survey 2019 (PRTS (2019)
Consultant,
blogger, researcher and PRPD board member Fred Jacobs presents results from PRTS 2019.
The survey is now in the
field. It probes thousands of public radio listeners about their use of various
media platforms and devices.
PRTS 2019 also provides listener
perceptions of NPR and NPR-member stations plus trends in use of mobile and
social media.
• Case Studies for
Building a Local, Loyal Digital Audience
Learn
about efforts to build younger, digital-first audiences including lessons
learned along the way and strategies you can employ to engage your local
community online.
• How to Build a Digital
Infrastructure
You
want a streaming infrastructure that is as robust as your station's
over-the-air sound. This session will cover smart speakers, apps, metadata,
platform relationships, a product development strategy and the staff and budget
to get it done.
