XPNFest
– will happen online this year. The station announced on Wednesday (7/8) that live sets and
archive performances from dozens of artists and groups will be available on Friday
(7/24), Saturday (7/25) and Sunday (7/26).
XPNFest will feature archived
full-length sets or two-song sets by Guster, the Indigo Girls, Kathleen Edwards
and the Blind Boys of Alabama. Some of the featured artists were scheduled to
perform earlier this year at the XPoNential
Music Festival. That event was
cancelled due to Covid-19 safety concerns.
Most of the XPNFest performances will be
live. and are scheduled for Sunday. Most o on Sunday. Artists scheduled to perform live
sets include Liz Phair, Devon Gilfillian, The Districts, Illiterate Light and Nicole
Atkins
XPNFest is also offering ways
for at-home festival goers to maximize their enjoyment by offering food
recipes, trivia quizzes, and a commemorative t-shirt available for pre-order.

PRPD & PMJA ANNOUNCE
REGISTRATION INFO FOR LET’S GO LIVE! VIRTUAL
CONFERENCE
Public
radio programmers, content creators, News Directors and indies will virtually
gather in September for Let’s Go Live,
a collaboration between members of the Public Radio Program Directors
association (PRPD) and the Public Media Journalist Association (PMJA).
Both
organizations cancelled their in-person annual conferences due to Covid-19 safety
concerns.
The
four-day collaborative public media summit is scheduled for Monday, September
21 through Thursday, September 24, 2020,
In
a press release, the collaboration announced the latest information about the
cyber event:
“As live conferences and events continue to take a pause
during the COVID-19 crisis, PRPD and PMJA have put their heads together to
create a solution for the entire industry.”
“Our 4-Day virtual summit – Let's Go Live! – Is for
industry leaders, public media programmers, content creators, newsroom managers
and journalists, hosted on the newly developed Attendify
event platform.
“Plans are in place
for more than 25 sessions showcasing a variety of industry experts, as well as
fun and engaging surprises throughout the course of the event. In a year when
most of our industry will go without professional development and travel
opportunities, Let's Go Live! Will give us an affordable chance to convene
and learn.”
As
promised, the cost of attending Let's Go
Live! Is very reasonable. Registration for PRPD and
PMJA members is $150 per individual.
Group rates are also available. The cost for non-members is $200 per person.
Registration is scheduled to begin on July 24th.
