RADIO HEROES: outLoud Radio

Occasional stories about people, ideas and audio
who are creating the future of radio.

outLoud Radio is doing it right – great storytelling, fine production and a righteous mission.

The San Francisco based org is radio/podcast project in by and for queer & questioning youth & allies, 23 & under. They teach how to make radio documentaries, audio art, and web radio.  The radio portal is Generation PRX http://generation.prx.org/.

My favorite stuff on their website [http://www.outloudradio.org/] are the first-person essays from folks of all ages. I like this piece called Me, My Self, My Books by David Axel, age 71.  (I added the video of a burning candle on a table in a lonely bar somewhere.)
